Marvel writer Dan Slott will return to begin a glorious farewell run.
Acclaimed Marvel writer Dan Slott will return to pen a limited five-issue anthology called EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE. The comic will mark the beginning of the end of the longstanding SPIDER-VERSE comic event that began in 2014.
Announced initially via Polygon, the limited series will showcase some new talent in that it will debut some brand new multiverse variants of Spider-Man. These new characters will be joining the ranks of fan favorites such as Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Man: India.
“Marvel has decided to do the unthinkable, go big, and bring the saga of the comic book Spider-Verse to a fiery conclusion. Yes, that’s right. Later this year we shall all bear witness to THE END OF THE SPIDER-VERSE!” Slott revealed in a message to Polygon.
“If you ask me, it’s madness. Why would they do this? WHY? They could’ve milked this spider-cash-cow for decades. That said, if you are going to do it, going all-out in a blaze of glory is definitely the way to go!”
The comic will debut in August. The run will precede the upcoming THE END OF SPIDER-VERSE line that will be launching for Marvel in the latter half of this year.
If that wasn’t enough, the movie franchise for Into the Spider-Verse also has two planned upcoming sequels for Sony. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (release in 2023) and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (2024).
