Fans of Lev Grossman’s The Magicians are in for a special treat next week.
The author of the fantasy book trilogy took to Twitter today to announce a commercial-free preview of the first episode following the final installment of Syfy’s Childhood’s End miniseries.
But I’m back on for a sec to announce that although officially The Magicians premieres on Syfy on 1/25…

There will be an early UNANNOUNCED showing of ep. 1 of The Magicians on Dec 16 on Syfy, at 10pm, commercial-free, after Childhood’s End — Lev Grossman (@leverus) December 9, 2015
The sneak preview is a strategic move on Syfy’s part in using the much anticipated run of Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End miniseries to bring more eyes to The Magicians ahead of its official premiere on January 25, 2016. More about The Magicians:
Based upon Lev Grossman’s best-selling books, “The Magicians” stars Jason Ralph (“A Most Violent Year,” “Aquarius”) as Quentin Coldwater, a brilliant grad student who enrolls in Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic. He and his 20-something friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real – and poses grave danger to humanity. Stella Maeve (“Chicago P.D.”), Hale Appleman (“Teeth”), Arjun Gupta (“Nurse Jackie”) and Summer Bishil (“Towelhead,” “Lucky 7”) also star in this one hour drama.
Childhood’s End will air Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, Dec. 14-16 on Syfy (8-10 p.m. ET). The Magicians commercial-free sneak preview will occur on Wednesday, Dec. 16 on Syfy at 10 PM.
